        Peri hadn’t believed Hamish when he
        told her. Even though there was no other
        explanation humanly possible for his
        radical change in demeanor, she refused
        to believe it until she laid her own eyes
        on the woman. 

        Now that she finally was, Peri could honestly
        find couldn’t find it in herself to do anything but
        shake her head and look down. A laugh escaped
        her before she realized what was happening,
        and she looked up at Alice with a shrug. 

        “I legitimately have no idea what to say to you, Alice.”
