The fact that she’d had to force Sherlock to read to her wasn’t surprising, though he didn’t know the whole story. He would have been even more surprised by her suspicions. Matching her smirk, he winked. “I look forward to the day, dollface.”

        Peri’s arm twitched as he ran his finger over it, trying to pull away from what was tickling it. “A Series Of Unfortunate Events. It’s about these three orphans and they just have all this horrible stuff happen to them after their parents die. I think I liked it because they were all smart. Usually smarter than the adults in the room,” She grinned. “They reminded me of Hamish and I. Except we weren’t adopted by shitty people.” That was probably another reason her adolescent mind liked the books so much. They showed her that they sure as hell could have had it worse.
