It was impossible to be angry with Peri when she looked that adorable, and so he let it slide, simply shaking his head and briefly rolling his eyes. Alex’s eyebrows rose at that, impressed but not really surprised that she knew how to handle herself. “Remind me to keep my distance, then..” His eyes were still on her as she surveyed the room, watching her fondly. The more time he spent with her, the more he was finding out just how amazing she truly was. No wonder his father had wanted her working for him so badly. Drawn from his thoughts as she spoke once more, he blinked a few times, clearing his throat and nodding. “Thanks. I’m sure he’ll be pleased.” Alex shrugged, about to speak but groaning quietly instead at the idea of food. “God yes, I’m starving. I haven’t eaten in like six hours..” Pulling his phone out of his pocket, he sent a quick message to their driver, informing him that he could pull the car around. “He should be outside by the time we get there,” he informed Peri, holding out his arm for her to take. “Looks like we won’t have to raid the liquor cabinet after all..”

Peri grinned at his reaction. She never really knew what to expect when she told someone about that, not that she had done it very many times. “Oh, don’t worry. Nothin’ sharp in my hands, and you’d probably be smart enough to check something like that beforehand.” Not that the other man would have been able to see the scissors shoved up her sleeve even if he had looked. She rose her eyebrows at him, a laugh escaping. “Pleased? You have met him, right? Not as irritated would probably be the better phrase. Whatever. Either way you put it, makes my day less stressful.” She fell quiet for a moment when he said how long it had been since he’d eaten, thinking back to the last time she had done so. It was getting to the point where she’d have to start setting alarms again, she was to preoccupied with everything else. “I had toast last night before I passed out?” She took his arm, keeping her eyes ahead as they began walking. “Oh, don’t get too ahead of yourself. There are other liquour cabinets we can raid. Bad food’s always better when you’ve got alcohol in you. Also, I want chips.” She nodded, fially looking back over at him. “I don’t care where we go, but I want chips.”
