Alex tilted his head slightly in order to see her tattoo better, nodding appreciatively at the sight of the name contrasting against the pale skin behind her ear. “Nice.” He pulled up his left sleeve, holding his arm in front of his body so Peri could see the piano keys and flowers tattooed across his forearm. “This is my only one for now.. How many do you have total?”

“Ooh,” Peri hummed, taking his arm in one hand and tracing a finger lightly over one of the flowers. She had chosen black for all of her tattoos save one, but the way the colors popped against Alex’s skin was appealing. Then again, that could have just been because it was Alex. “Eight,” she answered him after quickly counting in her head. “Those two, the white ink on my hand, quote on my arm, circle on my shoulder, scissors on my hipbone, and birds on my back for my biological parents.”
