“Mhm, pretty eyes,” he agreed playfully as she began listing off the qualities of his that she liked. Meeting her gaze, Alex laughed at the next one, rolling his eyes fondly. “Meaning I’m the best, right?” he teased in return. He covered her hand with his own as it rested against his cheek, his expression growing fond as Peri gave her final answer. “That works both ways, love. You make me feel normal, for once in my life. Like I’m just like all the other boys,” he added with a small smile. After all, his childhood and most of his life until now had been anything but normal, what with having Jim as a father and all.

“Right, the best, that’s what I meant.” She replied, nodding. She may have been teasing, but it was the truth. Peri had yet to meet another man — or a woman, for that matter — who was able to please her the way Alex did. It was far from her favorite thing about him, but it was certainly a bonus. She leaned forward, giving him a small peck on the lips before pulling back just enough to speak, her nose almost brushing his. “So this is what it’s like. Being normal.” She paused as a grin slipped onto her face. Neither of them would ever really know what normal was, she thought, but she was more than ready to get as close to it as she could, and she’d be happy to do it with him. “I think I like it.”
